A lifetime of love in a variety of modes,
Love in major, in minor, vivace, lento,
Enduring soundtrack of life's episodes.
Nor is the theme lost in the variations:
There is a single loveliness within
Innumerable triumphs, tribulations,
Needs, disappointments, losses, wins.
Even the most dissonant passages,
'Mid moments on the cliff edge of despair,
Soon resolve in tender sequences
Descending well-articulated stairs.
A single theme in all its varied grace:
Years on years of change in one embrace.
