Seldom is one satisfied with sorrow. Each day one looks for joy and happiness, Aware, of course, somewhere of one's distress, Saving the unveiling for tomorrow. One naturally finds refuge in denial, Nor should one focus on the coming darkness, Seeking to see life in all its starkness, Giving up the solace of a smile. Rejoice, then, in the blessings of the moment, Entering winter with well-chosen cheer, Embracing what is good and now and here, This season of sweet songs and merriment. In winter there'll be time enough for sadness, Nor should one turn one's heart alone towards gladness. Grace is music more than joy or pain, So beautiful it would all life contain.
