Leveraging what we believe,
Emails pounding like hard rain,
Checks piling up like autumn leaves ...
This right is our sine qua non,
Imperfect though the law may be,
One nation choosing, moving on,
Not messing with our sovereignty.
Democracies depend on trust
And shared consent because they must,
Yielding power peacefully.
