Beverly and Thomas are our shepherds,
Evangelists of universal love,
Vested in a faith whose yearnings move
Errant wanderers unknowing homeward.
Rejoice, then, in their ministry, for they
Long have kept us safe within the fold,
Years on tenterhooks, if truth be told,
As we by nature find fair cause to stray.
Nor is their message ever less than joy,
Drawn clearly on the canvas of their faith,
Their double portrait hung above our days,
Happily the mirror of our grace.
Out in the world the sirens faith destroy,
Making love a mask to hide the face,
As love itself's the song the shepherd plays,
Simply making music of each breath.
