Sixty-eight gazes peacefully
Into a past of sacrifice and pain.
X-rays might reveal an unblocked heart,
Though sometimes weary, strengthened by the strain:
Years and years of life beneath the sea.

Each finds most profit, paradoxically,
In thorough disregard for loss or gain,
Giving without alchemy or art,
Having only hope that love remain
To bring some sunlight to some sky to be.
