Thirty-two is far more than he knows,
Having come from nothing, bound for same.
Identity is body, mind, and soul,
Reducible to thought, and yet a whole
That is an ocean whittled to a name.
Years pass. The substance stays. The body goes.

There is a wife, a child, a job, a goal
Worth working for, a cause, an ardent flame.
On fog-bound rocks one reads the ancient floes.
